Tally
Tally's dream is to become pretty, but she soon learns the truth about turning pretty. She discovers love, friendship, and honesty.
Shay
Shay never wanted to become pretty, being normal is pretty. She likes David and is Tally's bestfriend. She feels betrayed when Tally was a spy for the Special Circumstances.
David
David is the real man. When new people come looking for the Smoke David picks them up, but this David wasn't sure if tally was safe. He soon discovers that he has feelings for Tally. He is caring, hard working, and "dreamy".
Maddy (David's Mom)
Maddy used to be a cosmetic sugeon (does surgeries for uglies to turn pretty). Maddy and Az (David's dad) discovered a disease called leisons that pretties get after the operation. She had a choice of giving up on the research or run away. She ran away to the Smoke.
